I aim to be the best father in the world. Too many men abandon that goal under the false pretense that work demands attention. (I am thinking here of Dr. Paul Farmer and the eulogy his daughter gave for him, where she basically said he wasn’t the best dad because he was saving other lives.) I know I can achieve the success I want to and be a great dad. That will take diligent scheduling and attention to my Blake’s Eudaimonia Notebook, but being a great Dad can (and will) be done.

Additional intellectual notes on the idea of “progeny”

“Progeny” is a weird term. I would hope that everyone brings the love they feel toward their children to the world. That said, our society and our biology is setup so that parents have a duty to care for their children beyond how they would care for others. I am not interested in going against those societal or biological demands. Still, I hope that I can bring some of the love for my “progeny” to Strengthening Society
